Rainier Vista Smilow Boys & Girls Club at 4520 Martin Luther King Jr Way S, Seattle
LWVSKC will be a Community Partner participating at this fair sponsored by the Seattle Housing Authority and Neighborhood House Org. The fair is expected to have 300 - 500 attendees that include youth, parents and community members. Empower Future Voters - One Troop at a Time!
Join the Girl Scout Action Committee to create fun civics activities for Girl Scout troops. This popular and successful program is growing! We already have eight Girl Scout troops that would like to participate this fall. As a committee member you will visit Girl Scout troops across King County to engage girls with high-energy, interactive games, skits and more. Girl Scouts are our future LWVSKC activists! Help a Future Voter Get a Head Start
Know a 16- or 17-year-old? They can sign up now as a Future Voter and get automatically registered when they turn 18, no extra paperwork later. Anyone who turns 18 between the August Primary and the November General can even vote in that Primary. If you're a parent, grandparent, teacher, or coach with a teenager in that age range, it takes a few minutes and sets them up for the rest of their voting life. Register a Future Voter.
Tell Congress to Stop Interfering in DC - Takes less than 2 minutes
DC is home to more than 700,000 people who live, work, raise families, and pay federal taxes there. But unlike residents of the 50 states, they don't get full control over their own local laws. Congress can override DC's budget and legislation at will. National Guard Members have occupied the city for more than a year. That's not how self-government is supposed to work. For years the LWVSKC has registered new citizens after their naturalization ceremony, with permission of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS. Unfortunately this permission was suspended months ago. The good news is that on August 3, 2026 the Naturalization Ceremony Voter Registration Ban was Blocked by a Judge thanks to a lawsuit by LWV and other nonprofits. The LWVSKC is now in the process of applying to be present once again at naturalization ceremonies in King County.
Understand your YES or NO Vote on Initiative 645 “The Millionaire’s Tax”
Initiative 645 asks voters to repeal the state's new 9.9% tax on annual household income over $1 million, passed by the Legislature earlier this year as Senate Bill 6346. A YES vote repeals the tax. A NO vote keeps the tax in place.
If voters approve the repeal, the state loses an estimated $11.7 billion in revenue over state fiscal years 2027-2031, money currently set aside to backfill federal funding cuts to state services. Repeal would also eliminate benefits packaged into the same bill, including low-income tax credits, business tax relief, and sales tax exemptions on items like diapers, hygiene products, and over-the-counter drugs.
