You learn the issue together, then decide what to do with it, write a letter, show up to a hearing, register voters, whatever fits, individually or as a group. Everyone is welcome including non-members. See what each unit is working on now and come for a visit.

Join us on 8/6 from 7:30 - 8:30pm for a planning meeting as we put together our timeline and task list to create Candidate Interview YouTube videos for public viewing of key King County races. We need people to help finalize candidate outreach and booking, topical researchers for questions, moderators, videographers and editors, just to name a few. LWVSKC will have a table at this event at the Matt Griffin YMCA in SeaTac this Saturday, Aug 8, from 1:30 to 3:30 PM. The Level Up Fair emphasizes Youth Civics, so we will have pamphlets and information and a Spinning Wheel game designed to engage youth and adults, as well - it should be fun! The Washington State Supreme Court has nine justices and five of these positions are up for election this year. Hear directly from the candidates in their own words in these video interviews which are paired with a short biography to help you prepare to vote. And there are over 60 local League forums being held across the state; find one you can attend!

The University of Washington Center for Human Rights continues to document that ICE and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are accessing Washington Department of Licensing data, resulting in immigration-related arrests of Washington residents. See an update here.

The Washington Voting Justice Coalition is a group of community organizations and individuals who have fought for policies like same-day voter registration and voting rights restoration. They are hosting listening sessions to hear about your views on voting, the electoral system, and voting policies. The King County Canvassing Board is responsible for officially certifying election results. The Board reviews vote totals, determines the validity of challenged ballots, oversees recounts when necessary, and formally certifies the election. The public is welcome to observe this important part of the election process. Meetings are held at King County Elections, recorded, and later posted on YouTube.
