About this event
As the League works to defend democracy and empower voters, we see corporate and dark money in politics eroding the influence of voters and diminishing their voices.
League members are not alone in that perspective. A survey by IPSOS, a major global market research company, establishes that more than 70 percent of Americans want to stop big money in politics.
Join us for a panel discussion sponsored by us, LWVSKC, and Politics of the Possible to learn about promising new state and federal strategies to stop this assault. Stop Big Money in Politics is open to the public as well as LWVSKC members. Since there is limited space, we are encouraging you to register by August 28th.
The speakers: Sawyer McCrabb, Executive Director, Fix Democracy First. (FDF) and Aliya Bhatia, Director of Coalitions and Partnerships, American Promise (AP). FDF is a WA State organization working to pass a bill which would control excessive corporate spending on elections. AP is a national organization that is working towards a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizen's United.
